Quick Facts

  1. Biotinidase Deficiency is a Vitamin B7 aka Vitamin H deficiency. The deficiency is caused by an enzyme in the stomach not actively breaking the protein attached to Vitamin B7 apart, causing the Vitamin B7 to pass through the body instead of being absorbed.
  2. Biotinidase can cause seizures; anti seizure medication can block the absorption of biotin.
  3. A couple who previously had a baby with Biotinidase could possibly have another child with the deficiency as well. The expecting mother may need to take biotin during any future pregnancy.
  4. Raw egg whites can block absorption of Vitamin B7.
